Bad Weather!

I love and hate bad weather at the same time. Tonight has been a rough night for Mobile, Alabama because of this patch of nasty weather that has traveled over us recently. I love it when it is a super rainy, stormy day when I have nothing to do...so today was great. Tonight was not so good because the thunder got a little out of control. I like thunder to an extent but when it gets so loud and close that it crackles, I hate it! It happened a few times tonight and the power flickering did not help the situation with my nerves any better. It feels like when I have really busy days where I have to run errands and walk in and out of places, it will pour for hours. Here in Mobile, since it is so FLAT, it tends to flood a lot. Especially in parking lots where you have to walk through. Other than those few awful situations, I kinda like the bad weather. As long as I get to be lazy and stay in the whole time. =)

Summer

Sometime during the month of May, I plan on taking a few vacations. I will definitely be going to Panama City Beach, Florida. That place is like a second home to me now. I go so many times throughout the year including summer, my birthday, and spring break. My brother lives there and his dad owns a motel on the strip so we usually stay at his dad's house (who is like family anyways) or at the motel. I love the beach and I can't stay away from it for very long. I was there this weekend for a wedding and I still need some beach time. I just love being near the water because I love the ocean so much. My life will need to be near the water so that means I will have to live near it. That is a must! Not so much in Panama City, but a nicer place near the water would be great. I also can't wait to see my brother again since I have not seen him since spring break which was in mid march! Too long to go with out seeing him.

Mother's Day!

Mother's day is coming up this weekend! After finals are over, I am headed home to be with my family for a few days and I can NOT wait! I have decided to make my mom's present this year and it has a lot to do with who she is. She loves to garden and loves flowers. So I have bought a plain clay pot from Lowe's and I am in the process of decorating it with paint and paint pens. I have chosen to decorate it with a floral design so that it resembles her favorite of the outdoors. Also, by giving her a flower pot, she will be getting something that she will DEFINITELY use. There is no 'maybe' in this decision. I am sure that she will love this gift since it will come from me AND it will be for her to garden with. I also want to buy a bulb of one of her favorite flowers so that she can plant it once she gets it this weekend. I love my mommy! =)

Jarrell Wadsworth

Jarrell Wadsworth is the artist of this creation and is an amazing one at that! I had to do an assignment for my AED class and design a lesson including artwork from the Mobile Museum of Art. We visited the museum during class one day and I picked a piece of art from Jarrell Wadsworth. His pieces are absolutely amazing and have to do with the events during his life. I hope to own one of his pieces and to proudly display it in my home!

Wedding in Gulf Shores

I attended a wedding in Gulf Shores this weekend. Yes, it was a beach wedding and it was beautiful. It was the wedding of the daughter of my boyfriend's mom. All of the colors worked so well together and the reception was SO nice. The weather this weekend was not at all pretty but it could have been worse. It was overcast all day and SUPER windy...the wedding was suppose to be a sunset wedding. I was kind of glad that it was overcast because we would all have been hot and sweaty for the wedding if the sun was out. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the boyfriend and getting to meet his family. They are all amazing. I definitely had a lot of fun this weekend! =)

Classroom Management

Classroom Management is a class that is required at The University of South Alabama to graduate with a degree in Education. It just so happens to be one of my top favorite classes. Just like the EDM 310 computer class that I am in, Classroom Management has so many lessons that it teaches to become a better teacher. It lets you know what you are getting yourself into with an Education degree. My teacher is Ms. Ouimette and she is so blunt on a lot of issues concerning teaching and I love it. She tells you how it is. She doesn't sugar coat it which is what students need so that we are better prepared for the future. The department of Education here at South Alabama is thinking about cutting the Classroom Management class from the required class load. I think this is a bad idea. The students who do not get to be in this class will suffer and will not be as prepared as I believe I am at the end of this semester. Hopefully the department will decide to keep the class!

Oil Spill!

It has been all over the news. If you haven't heard anything about this oil rig explosion than where have you been hiding?! Last week an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico exploded, sank, and is continuing to leak thousands of gallons of oil in the ocean. Everyone on the news here in Mobile is freaking out because the oil is headed our way. There is this organization that is getting ready for the oil to make it here and they need all the volunteer help that they can get. They do not know exactly what is to be done just yet but they are taking names and information of people who wish to help. My roommate and I have already sent an email with our information so that we can help whenever they will need it. The most help will be needed with cleaning the animal life that is affected by the oil. This just breaks my heart. Below is a link that will lead to more updated information about the oil spill...go read!
