Classroom Management

Classroom Management is a class that is required at The University of South Alabama to graduate with a degree in Education. It just so happens to be one of my top favorite classes. Just like the EDM 310 computer class that I am in, Classroom Management has so many lessons that it teaches to become a better teacher. It lets you know what you are getting yourself into with an Education degree. My teacher is Ms. Ouimette and she is so blunt on a lot of issues concerning teaching and I love it. She tells you how it is. She doesn't sugar coat it which is what students need so that we are better prepared for the future. The department of Education here at South Alabama is thinking about cutting the Classroom Management class from the required class load. I think this is a bad idea. The students who do not get to be in this class will suffer and will not be as prepared as I believe I am at the end of this semester. Hopefully the department will decide to keep the class!

Oil Spill!

It has been all over the news. If you haven't heard anything about this oil rig explosion than where have you been hiding?! Last week an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico exploded, sank, and is continuing to leak thousands of gallons of oil in the ocean. Everyone on the news here in Mobile is freaking out because the oil is headed our way. There is this organization that is getting ready for the oil to make it here and they need all the volunteer help that they can get. They do not know exactly what is to be done just yet but they are taking names and information of people who wish to help. My roommate and I have already sent an email with our information so that we can help whenever they will need it. The most help will be needed with cleaning the animal life that is affected by the oil. This just breaks my heart. Below is a link that will lead to more updated information about the oil spill...go read!

It's Finals Time!

So it is that time of year where everyone is stuffed in the library, twitching from the high amounts of adderal, and lacking the many many hours of sleep. Oh yes, it is April so it is time for the final exams. I have 6 classes...which adds up to 18 hours for this semester's load...and so I have plenty of study guides and last minute make-up work to keep me busy. Luckily, I only have three finals and one final quiz to take. I am actually so thankful that I do NOT have 6 final exams to take because that would make life way too miserable. Tomorrow is the last day of classes for this semester and one of my finals is in the morning. Next week is finals week and I only have a quiz on Tuesday and my other two finals on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday just so happens to be Cinco de Mayo...ugh. I will finally get to go home on Saturday, just in time for Mothers day!

After Graduation

After I graduate from The University of South Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education, I wish to join the Peace Corps. I really hope to be able to work in Thailand but I will be willing to work where ever I am placed. I have had this dream to join the Peace Corps for the past three years. My parents are totally against it but I keep reminding them that it is a safe decision and I will absolutely regret it for the rest of my LIFE if I don't do it. Helping people in any way is what I wish to do and hopefully I can use my knowledge of educating younger children where ever I go. Below is a link to the Peace Corps website. Go check it out for more information!
